Our hometown of Ingham is often referred to as the Southern Gateway to Tropical QLD, located just over an hour's drive north of Townsville, the Hinchinbrook region is encompassed with wet tropics.

Our shire is surrounded by ancient tropical rainforests, rugged tropical islands and the Great Barrier Reef.

We are also the home of Australia's highest single drop waterfall, Wallaman Falls and the departure point of the iconic wild Hinchinbrook Island.

We have a little bit of everything in Hinchinbrook- the wilderness, culture, gourmet local food, history, world class fishing & the most glorious beaches with sunsets like nowhere else in the world.

We really are living the dream up here!

Our Visitor Information Centre has a variety of local brochures & books on everything you can do while holidaying with us!

Snorkel on the reef, book a charter boat to catch barra's, birdwatch at Tyto & take in the scenery of the Wetlands, enjoy a cold beer at the pubs, a hike to the base of Wallaman Falls waterfall, the swimming holes in our national parks, treat yourself to our Italian gourmet deli goods, browse the gorgeous boutiques which fill our town with fashion, homewares & heaps of other goods.
